Mattie Weingarten-Pardy, LCMHC

Therapist & PRACTICE owner

Young woman with long blonde hair smiling, wearing a teal blouse.

“You’ve done hard things before, and you can do this too.”

A Charlotte native, Mattie earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University, where she was inducted into the Lambda Rho Chi chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, graduating cum laude with dual degrees in Mass Communications (with an emphasis in Applied Ethics) and Sociology.

Mattie founded WC&A in 2020 with the vision of creating an accessible, patient-friendly practice to support busy individuals, couples and families. Some of her areas of interest include anxiety, eating disorders, women’s issues, body image concerns, trauma, and depression. Her approach to counseling is a holistic, wellness-based perspective that emphasizes treating the cause of distress rather than the symptoms. She believes in customizing her approach to therapy based on the specific needs of the client, rather than following a strict formula. Mattie is also influenced by humanistic theories of counseling, particularly the tenets of empathy, authenticity, and treating clients with unconditional positive regard. Her favorite part of her job is matching a client with the perfect counselor for them; therapy magic happens when the fit is just right!

Outside of her work, you can find Mattie practicing yoga, making headway on her Goodreads goals, and traveling whenever she can. She loves spending time with her husband Sean, their two young children, and their sweet dog, Finn.
