Abigail Pope, LMFTA, MT-BC
LICENSED MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPY ASSOCIATE
BOARD CERTIFIED MUSIC THERAPIST
I am dedicated to helping you write your own stories. Sometimes we stick to writing the stories that have been told to us, and my role as your therapist will be to help you access the strengths you already have to make meaningful discoveries in your story that are authentic to you and your experiences.
After completing her undergraduate degree in music therapy from Appalachian State University, Abigail worked for a few years in a forensic behavioral health hospital near Richmond, VA. In that time, she became curious to learn more about therapy and the many systems that influence the lives of the clients she worked with. Abigail returned to her alma mater to pursue a dual-master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Music Therapy. Her varied educational and therapeutic experiences have prepared her to work with clients from many different backgrounds.
Abigail works with adult individuals and couples. She is particularly interested in working with clients navigating eating disorder recovery, body image and self-esteem concerns, neurodiversity, trauma, and relationship stress. Abigail’s therapeutic presence is warm and empathetic and her approach to therapy is infused with her music therapy background to create a dynamic, creative space of mutual exploration and discovery.
Outside of work, Abigail loves to create through baking and crafts. She also enjoys getting outdoors and engaging in various types of joyful movement, as well as resting and reading a book while snuggling with her cat.
