Hello!
My name is Mattie and I specialize in helping women thrive. Becoming a psychotherapist was written in the stars for me; my mother and grandmother were amazing therapists, and I am honored to continue their work. I believe people are capable of tremendous growth and my favorite part of my job is to watch the process unfold.
Mattie's Story
Not accepting new clients.
A Charlotte native, Mattie earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University where she was a member of the Lambda Rho Chi chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society. She attended college at University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she graduated cum laude with degrees in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Applied Ethics and Sociology.
Some of her areas of interest include anxiety, eating disorders, women’s issues, body image concerns, trauma, and depression. Mattie is is enthusiastic about working with diverse demographics and clients from all walks of life. Her approach to counseling is a holistic, wellness-based perspective that emphasizes treating the cause of distress rather than the symptoms. She believe in customizing my approach to therapy based on the specific needs of the client, rather than following a strict formula. Mattie is also influenced by humanistic theories of counseling, particularly the tenets of empathy, authenticity, and treating clients with unconditional positive regard.
Outside of work, you can find her on the Peloton (always riding with Cody!), frantically catching up on her book club's pick of the month, and soaking up time with her husband, toddler son, and pup Finn.
